Positron Emission Tomography in Patients Undergoing Autologous Stem Cell Transplant Prognostic Significance of Pre-transplant Positron Emission Tomography
نویسنده
چکیده
commonly combined with computed tomography (CT), is widely used in the initial evaluation and response assessment of patients with Hodgkin’s lymphoma (HL). Its sensitivity for nodal and extranodal sites of disease can add to the staging information obtained with CT alone, and PET is valuable in the response assessment at the end of front-line therapy because it can distinguish active disease from fibrosis in residual masses. In fact, the goal of front-line therapy is now a PET-negative complete remission (CR). Interim PET scan, performed during the initial course of therapy, may also have prognostic significance, and treatment adapted to interim PET results is under investigation in ongoing clinical trials.

Detection of Alzheimer\\\\\\\'s Disease using Multitracer Positron Emission Tomography Imaging
Alzheimer's disease is characterized by impaired glucose metabolism and demonstration of amyloid plaques. Individual positron emission tomography tracers may reveal specific signs of pathology that is not readily apparent on inspection of another one. Combination of multitracer positron emission tomography imaging yields promising results. In this paper, 57 Alzheimer's disease neuroimaging ini...
متن کاملPositron emission tomography response at the time of autologous stem cell transplantation predicts outcome of patients with relapsed and/or refractory Hodgkin's lymphoma responding to prior salvage therapy.
BACKGROUND High-dose chemotherapy followed by autologous stem cell transplantation is the standard treatment for relapsed and/or refractory Hodgkin's lymphoma although half of patients relapse after transplantation. Predictive factors, such as relapse within 12 months, Ann-Arbor stage at relapse, and relapse in previously irradiated fields are classically used to identify patients with poor out...
متن کاملThe effect of fasting on Positron Emission Tomography (PET) imaging
As a nuclear approach, Positron Emission Tomography (PET) is a functional imaging technique which is based on the detection of gamma ray pairs emitted by a positron-emitting radionuclide. There are certain limitations to this technique such as normal tissue uptake. Therefore, it has been recommended that patients prepare before scanning. Fasting for a short while before PET imaging is an exampl...
متن کاملThe role of FDG-PET imaging as a prognostic marker of outcome in primary mediastinal B-cell lymphoma
Primary mediastinal B-cell lymphoma (PMBL) is a subtype of diffuse large B-cell lymphoma (DLBCL) that arises in the mediastinum from B-cells of thymic origin. Optimal management of patients with PMBL remains controversial. The present study evaluates outcomes of 27 PMBL patients treated with R-CHOP with or without radiation therapy (RT). It investigates the role of both interim and posttreatmen...
متن کاملImaging Cellular Proliferation in Prostate Cancer with Positron Emission Tomography
Prostate cancer remains a major public health problem worldwide. Imaging plays an important role in the assessment of disease at all its clinical phases, including staging, restaging after definitive therapy, evaluation of therapy response, and prognostication. Positron emission tomography with a number of biologically targeted radiotracers has been demonstrated to have potential diagnostic and...
